Little Red

In the summer of 2005 five very different Melbourne musicians came together to form a band. Brought

together by an unashamed love of hook and melody the five lads immediately set about playing anywhere and everywhere, honing their sound down to something classic and yet incredibly new and unique. It didn’t take long for people to catch on.

It is from this point that the story of Little Red was born.

After wowing punters and selling out local residencies the band then released their debut EP Get Ready in 2007. Get Ready was a brash collection of some of the liveliest feel good pop music to come out of Melbourne town in years. Even more people caught on.

Next the band won the Garage To V competition in 2007 which saw them sharing stages with the likes of Queens Of The Stoneage and Duran Duran on the V Festival Tour. Then followed appearances on The Falls Festival, Meredith Music Festival, Queenscliff and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, and Groovin’ The Moo bills.

Somewhere amongst all of this live activity, the band managed to commit to tape the songs that were to become their debut LP Listen To Little Red. If Get Ready was a wake up call, Listen To Little Red was a clarion, heralding the arrival of something truly fresh on the Australian musical landscape.

Listen to Little Red was released on the band’s own Hooch Hound imprint and debuted at 29 on the ARIA album chart, at number 1 on the AIR chart and won the coveted Triple J Album of The Week on release. A slew of glowing reviews and press coverage followed, as did the band’s first ever headlining National tour which saw them sell out rooms across the nation. The summer of 2008/09 saw them appear at festivals right across the country including the Big Days Out, Homebake, Meredith, Pyramid Rock and Trackside but the story of Little Red has only just begun. The opening chapter in a book destined to become an Australian classic.
