THE COMPETITION
In 2011, the Caloundra Music Festival is bringing the community together to celebrate song and dance with a nation-wide Glee Club Competition. Sixteen schools will be invited to the beautiful Sunshine Coast to perform their Glee live at the Caloundra Music Festival Village. Sponsored by Music at Noosa and Yamaha, schools will be competing for a whopping $10,000 in prizes for their school’s performing arts department with two awesome $5000 prize packs up for grabs to the winning primary school and secondary school.
WHAT IS A GLEE CLUB?
A glee club is a musical ensemble which traditionally specialises in the singing of short songs—glees—by trios or quartets. In recent years glee club has had resurgence with the comedy-drama television series Glee focusing on an American high school glee club. The modern makeover incorporates a larger ensemble of performers, choreographed dance routines, costume and renditions of popular musical numbers. The result is a colourful and energising song and dance performance.
