The free Stockland Village presented by FESTURI celebrates diversity and our local culture through interactive workshops, roaming buskers and performances on stage.

Free stages blend local talent and cultural performances. The Village has a safe, communal atmosphere where everyone is welcome to experience different cultures and participate in the celebrations in a relaxing and fun environment.

These free activities in the village would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. We acknowledge financial support from Department of Communities (State Government) and ongoing in-kind support from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

New additions to the Village this year include, FESTURI’s annual successful multicultural workshops, Story Telling Tent and Parade of Nations. 

The main stage in the Village includes a great mix of local emerging artists, local schools, winners of the Battle of the Band competitions – even special guests from the festival main stage. Take a ride on the giant ferris wheel or carousel, get involved in the street performance workshops and activities, and join in the fun of the parade on Saturday. Check out the huge array of children’s workshops and activities (pick up a free workshop schedule from the festival information station), or just wander through the great authentic food stalls and markets.

So what exactly can I do at The Village?

The Main Stage

The Main Stage will be a major focus of The Village, showcasing a wide variety of quality music including upcoming local and cultural artists.  With a program running from 10am through until 5pm each day you can rest assured you will be entertained by the wide range of performers who take stage.  You may even witness our Mayor Mr Bob Abbot in action on stage! Performance Applications are open NOW visit, www.festuri.org.au to obtain further information. 

Workshops

Throughout both days The Stockland Village will run several scheduled workshops for all to enjoy.  There will be a mix of workshops that run all-day where you can come and go as you please, and also other speciality workshops scheduled at certain times.  There will be something for everyone such as drumming, belling dancing, arts and crafts. Workshop Presenter Applications are open NOW visit, www.festuri.org.au to obtain further information.

Parade

Once again we will see a great parade of funky, zany, fantastical and magical performers and entertainers – and of course – YOU! The parade will take place along Lions Park and beach foreshore on Saturday 9 October at 11am. Local cultural groups are also welcomed into the parade in their traditional dress and country’s flag. For more information or to get involved, please send an email with PARADE in the subject line to info@festuri.org.au 

Story Telling Tent

Come along and listen to the colourful stories from other countries; many accompanied by interactive singing and dancing. People from culturally & linguistically diverse backgrounds are welcome to book in a ‘story time’.  For more information or to get involved, please send an email with STORY TELLING in the subject line to info@festuri.org.au 

Art on Display

Walking around The Village you will no doubt come across a few art displays... Whether your taste lies with traditional art or contemporary art, there will be something to delight your senses. To be involved, please send an email with VILLAGE ART in the subject line to info@festuri.org.au 

Street Performance Space

Street performance has always been an iconic part of the Sunshine Coast worth celebrating and developing – and that is exactly what we are doing this year! The street performance space will involve a stage, workshops, street performance jam sessions and more. This space is led by local globe-trotting street performers and open to those who are just starting out, just interested in getting involved and of course – just wanting to sit back and watch! Children’s Festival

Located under the shady Pandanus trees overlooking the beach, the children’s festival will include attractions and activities such as painting in the park, storytime sessions, kitemaking workshops, craft sessions, puppet shows, clowns, face painters and roving entertainment!

Beach-side Carnival

The beach-side carnival is a favourite for all our youngest festival-goers... located around the infamous Kings Beach fountains, the carnival will ensure your festival experience is complete, with rides, stalls, and all kinds of fun activities.

Markets and Food Stalls

The food and market stalls will add colour and flavour to the already bustling Village!  They will operate from 10am until 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
