We have a huge variety of Volunteer positions on offer either pre-festival in the site build weeks, during the festival  and even when the fun is over and it is time to pack it all down.

Pre & Post Festival 

Administration Team

Working with us in the office is a great insight into what happens behind the scenes to ensure the Caloundra Music Festival is as awesome as possible! You need to have a great sense of humour to work in our crazy office and we need honest, organised and reliable people who are happy to get in and help get the jobs done! We have three types of Administration Assistant positions available:

  1. Data Entry Assistant
    • We have so much information that we need to capture in the CMF database, you will need to be able to follow instructions and work independently.
    • Must Haves: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit and Access Databases.
  1. Vollie Support Administration Assistant
    • Are you interested in learning about what goes on behind the scenes to coordinate the Volunteer workforce?
      Vollie Support volunteers will assist with a variety of administration tasks for the Volunteers Manager, from assisting with building rosters, following up volunteer enquiries, putting together the volunteer information packs for the induction evening and assisting at the induction evening, all in the lead up to the festival weekend.
    • Must Haves: Computer skills, excellent communication skills, be well organised and efficient.
  1. General Office Duties
    • There is so much to do! We need assistance with the collation of documents into folders, making copies, laminating, stuffing envelopes, stocktaking or anything and everything that is required.  This is a great role for students looking for some work experience or people who are not so confident on the computer.
    • Must Haves:  Able to follow instructions and work independently.
All Admin Positions:
Availability: July through to November | Applicants will need to be available at short notice and at various times of the day, we may need help either during or outside business hours. Planned rosters may be supplied for some duties.

Bar Set-Up Team

Are you ready to work hard and have fun at the same time? Are you capable of heavy lifting?

You will be stocking all the bar fridges and freezers and assisting in set up of the five bar located across the festival site. Whilst experience in this area is a bonus it is not essential but you must be prepared to work hard.

Must Haves: Heavy lifting ability, energetic and enthusiastic; ability to work autonomously.
Availability: 24, 25, 26 & 27th September | Varied hours between 8am and 5pm

Site Creative / Decoration Team

We are looking to assemble a team of talented people who will help us achieve the Festival’s creative vision this year. We need designers / stylers, builders and painters who can work together to create and install something special. We are keen to utilise your talents!

Must Haves: Those with design or styling experience, carpentry skills, painting and sign writing, or any other creative skills will be highly regarded.
Availability: 21 Sep to 3 Oct | Varied hours between 8am and 5pm.

Furniture, Fit-Out & Equipment Team

The FF&E Team requires a highly motivated group of people who are capable of handling a sometimes physically demanding role and prepared to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. Pre-festival we need to receive, sort and distribute all the furniture, fixtures and equipment to where they need to be. Post-festival, when all the fun is over, we then need to collect everything and prepare it for either collection or storage for next year.The FF&E Team also manage the Consumables Store, operating during site build and remaining open right through to site pack down.

Must Haves: Capable of heavy lifting, physical work and a team player.
Availability: 13 & 14 Sep, 20 Sep to 5 Oct | Pre & Post Festival – Varied hours between 8am and 5pm | During Festival – Varied hours between 8am and 10pm.

Signage Team

Are you creative or even just a bit handy? The Signage Team is looking for a bunch of people to help create and install all festival signage! From timber directional signage, flags and corflute signage, there is lots of work to do!
Most of the work happens pre & post festival but some help is required over the weekend to ensure we keep on top of everything!

Must Haves: Able to follow directions and have an eye for detail. Sign writing and chalk artists will be highly regarded.
Availability: 21 Sep to 5 Oct | Varied hours between 8am and 5pm.

Site Assistants Team

Are you fairly handy? Don’t mind a hard days work? Comfortable with heavy lifting? Are you a wizz with a cable tie? We have the job for you! The site build happens pretty much every day over the 3 weeks leading up to the festival and we need to ensure there are enough hands on deck to create a safe, clean and beautiful festival site. You’ll be working as part of a great team, doing anything from securing shade cloth, setting out chairs and tables, putting up fence wrap and keeping the site clean. When the party’s over – it’s time to do it all in reverse: packing it down, cleaning and sorting equipment, clearing the site and so on.

Must Haves: Heavy lifting ability, handyman/woman, hardworking and a ‘get the job done’ attitude.
Availability: 10 Sep – 5 Oct | Varied hours between 7am – 5 pm
Capacity: 20 ( 15 handy people still to join us)

At The Event 

Accreditation Team

Do you have great computer skills and are you great with people? Accreditation Assistants will assist with implementing the accreditation plan, ensuring staff, contractors and volunteers are issued with the correct accreditation as required. You will need to gain an accurate, up-to-date knowledge of the festival ticket and wristband structure. The Accreditation office is a busy hub over the festival so you will need to be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure.

Must Haves: Computer skills, ability to think on your feet, experience working under pressure, previous experience is ideal but not necessary
Availability: 27, 28, 29, 30 Sep & 1st Oct | Varied hours between 8am – 8pm 
Capacity: 10 (ACCREDITATION TEAM IS FULL) 

Artist Liaison Team (18+)

We are looking for some stellar vollies to join the Artist Liaison Team. You will need to be self-motivated,  have excellent interpersonal skills, especially face-to-face, public relations, confidentiality and skills to deal with the general public, artists and volunteers. 
You must have an ability to find the silver lining on every cloud, smile throughout the shift, support your fellow volunteers, proactively contribute to the positive team atmosphere and accept all tasks are never too big or too small for our groovy team!
Working in the Artist Liaison Team is not all glitz and glamour.  This team works extremely hard around the clock to ensure that our performers, crew and their guests are looked after exceptionally well.  Duties will include cleaning dressing rooms and the green room, assisting with Artist catering, assisting in the Artist Registration office, maintaining the backstage areas and water refill stations, escorting artists to their stages among a variety of other task as and when required. 

As this is a highly sought after role and one that requires a certain skill set you will be required to provide contact details of a suitable referee that can vouch for your experience. Please note that all Artist Liaisons will be required to complete a minimum of 20 hours over the 4 days of the event.

Must Haves: Discretion and ability adhere to professional code of conduct with high profile artists.
Shift Availability: 27, 28, 29, 30 SEP, 1, 2 OCT | Various hours from 8am until midnight.

Artist Transfers Team(18+)

Do you have experience in driving buses or mini vans?  We are looking for some solid volunteers with a great sense of direction to join the Artist Transfer Team. You will need to be self-motivated,  have excellent interpersonal skills, especially face-to-face, public relations, confidentiality and skills to deal with the Bruce Highway and International airport logistics. 
Must have an open drivers license and be physically fit. Pick up/Drop off of artists, crew and management as well lifting of baggage/instruments etc. 
As this is a highly sought after role and one that requires a certain skill set you will be required to provide contact details of a suitable referee that can vouch for your experience. 

Please note that all Artist Transfer Drivers will be required to complete a minimum of 18 hours rostered over the 6 days between Thursday 27 Sep to Tuesday 2 October.

Must Haves: Open Drivers License and clean driving record
Shift Availability: 27, 28, 29, 30 SEP, 1, 2 OCT | Various hours from 7am until midnight.

Bar Team

There are a number of positions available within our huge Bar Team.  Whilst holding your RSA and having experience working in a bar or in hospitality is desirable, it is not essential for all the roles.  The bars are a really fun place to work over the festival weekend.  So if you like a fast paced, fun and friendly atmosphere, read on to see what role might suit you best.

  1. Bar Attendants (18+)
    • The Bar Vollie team is a fun and hard working team. This position requires operating the Point of Sale system, the service of alcohol, maintaining cleanliness of bar servery and bar areas in general and helping with the stock control. Whilst experience working in a Bar or hospitality and holding a current RSA is a bonus it is not essential but you must be able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure and be comfortable in serving alcohol! We will be looking for people with a fun and friendly attitude as you will be helping to create an awesome experience for our patrons! You may also be trained in all other bar volunteer roles.
    • Bar Attendants could be rostered to work in any of our 3 Public Bars or 4 Kings Club Lounges.
    • Bar Attendants in the peak bar services times will be required to assist with collating and flattening boxes,  taking them to the designated cardboard area and  keeping the rubbish generated at bars under control.
  2. Bar Stocker
    • Are you capable of heavy lifting, ready to work hard and have fun at the same time?
      This position requires the restocking of bar fridges and ice tubs and assisting in maintaining cleanliness of bar servery. Whilst experience in this area is a bonus it is not essential but you must be able to work quickly and precisely under pressure. You may also be trained in all other bar volunteer roles.
Must Haves: RSA and previous experience ideal but not necessary, confidence in working in a busy environment, positive and fun attitude

Box Office Team

Box Office Attendants will be required to sell Festival tickets and must have experience handling cash as well as operating an EFTPOS machine and/or a Commbank ALBERT and/or a POINT OF SALE system. Being confident in using a computer and possessing excellent customer service skills  is essential to this role as you will also be required to provide information to patrons and deal with festival related enquiries. Box Office Attendants will need to be able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.

Must Haves: Cash Handling Skills, computer skills, positive attitude, customer service skills

Customer Service Team

Do you love helping people, possess great customer service skills and have a friendly and welcoming nature? Yes! Then please apply for the Customer Service team! Customer Service Assistants provide friendly and efficient support to festival patrons to ensure they have a quality festival experience and return again year after year. There are a variety of tasks that are the responsibility of the Customer Service Team, such as The Cloakroom, Bike Valet, Customer Service Tent, Lost and Found service, issuing Festival Programs, offering Sunscreen to patrons, providing information and directions, keeping an eye on all areas of the festival to ensure it is kept clean and bins are being emptied, helping patrons with accessibility needs, and generally ensuring that festival patrons are having a good time.

Must Haves: Excellent communication skills, willingness to learn and a positive, fun attitude. Customer service experience highly regarded.

Communications Team

We are looking for people that are meticulously organised, efficient, patient and have fantastic verbal communication skills. Communications Officers monitor the festival’s radio channels, connecting the Festival Management Team and Area Managers so that they can resolve site, operational, risk or emergency issues.The Communications Team is also responsible for the daily issuing, collection and recharging of site radios.

Must Haves: By referral only or previous Comms Volunteers

Maitre D' Team

We are looking for people who are self-motivated and know how to have fun while getting the job done! 2018 sees the introduction of several dedicated dining areas around the festival and we need a group of vollies that we can rely on to ensure these areas are always clean and tidy. You will be welcoming patrons into the dining areas, clearing and wiping down tables, then resetting areas as required. We know that this is not the most glamorous role available, but we always encourage our vollies to have a bit of fun while they are working. You have the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the atmosphere with festival patrons for your entire shift, so put on a smile, maybe a special outfit, and have some fun with it!

Must Haves: Self-motivated, reliable and fun attitude.

Flying Squad Team

The Flying Squad volunteers will assist in many areas of the festival – providing support wherever required, sometimes at short notice. This may involve helping in other volunteer roles such as gate operations, crowd control, roving clean up, ticket sales, bar operations, site assistance signage etc. This position is essential to keeping all areas of the Festival running as smoothly as possible by providing any/all necessary support.  Essentially the role could be described as problem solving and trouble shooting and is a great ‘all rounder’ position. This is a fantastic role for people interested in or studying or wanting experience in Events Management.

Must Haves: Ability to think on your feet, ability to work autonomously, positive attitude.

Funky Forest Team

Do you love children? Do you have lots of energy, a great big smile and enjoy working alongside children and their families? Then we want you on the Funky Forest team! The Funky Forest boasts a full program of fantastic activities to keep the young and the young at heart entertained over the Festival weekend. As a member of the Funky Forest team you may be required to assist in a number of tasks such as monitor use of the kids activities in the area, facilitating craft activities, supervising the jumping castles, supervising sand play, ensuring that the programmed workshops run on time and assist with any other activities that have been organised. We will be looking for people that are full of energy and excitement who will embrace their role by being willing to dress up. You must be patient and have experience or at least enjoy working with kids. Perhaps you would like to volunteer within the Face Painting Team? We need approximately 10 volunteers to work within the Funky Forest. Do you have an artistic eye coupled with a love for kids?

Must Haves: Blue Card Highly recommended but not necessary; love for children, creative and not afraid to paint your face and dress the part!

Gate Team

One of our largest teams at the festival there are two key roles in this team.

  1. Gate Attendants
    • Do you use a smart phone? If yes, we want you! That’s right, knowing how to use a smart phone, being a super star wristbander and having a friendly welcoming smile are the rad skills all of our Gate Attendants must have. Our Gate Attendants are the friendly, happy faces welcoming festival patrons, providing them with information and directions. You will be checking IDs, scanning tickets and issuing wristbands and will need to learn all about the different ticket types and associated wristband types (and spot a dodgy ticket!)
  2. Gate Supervisors
    • We are also looking for some super skilled Gate Attendants that have experience working on Festival gates that would like to step up to the challenge of being a Gate Supervisor. If you are a confident communicator and an excellent problem solver, have experience supervising staff, as well as experience working on the CMF Gates then this is the job for you. We are looking for a number of Gate Supervisors that will assist in the smooth operation of gates including directing volunteers as well as helping with the gates wristband reconciliation procedure.Gate Supervisors will be required to gain knowledge of the festival ticket and wristband structure, Festival program, location of key facilities and services, operate an iPhone scanner, direct volunteers, reconcile wristbands and trouble-shoot ticket issues. You will also assist with checking or issuing wristbands, and with the support of security personnel, ensuring that only festival patrons with correct wristbands gain entry to ticketed areas.
Must Haves: Positive attitude, happy, customer service experience

Waste Warrior Team

Are you an environmental warrior? Want to help keep the site sparkling clean? Happy to work early mornings or late at night? Our Waste Warrior Team will work to ensure we are encouraging patrons to “Do the Right thing” and use the right bins, you will direct patrons to the Water Re-fill stations, help with waste management by monitoring waste bins, keeping the site clean and flattening and removing cardboard from behind the bar areas. Some shifts will be scheduled early in the morning whilst others will be late into the evening.

Must Haves: Big smile, lots of green vibes, high energy

Kings Club Guardian Team (18+)

We take a lot of pride in our CMF Kings Club areas and we want a motivated team to help us ensure we continue to deliver the BEST festival experience possible for all of our Kings Club Ticket Holders, VIP Guests and Artists. If this sounds like you, then apply for our new Kings Club Guardian Team. You will be responsible for ensuring that all Kings Club areas are kept clean and tidy, resetting seating areas after large crowds move on and assisting with any functions held during the festival.

Must Haves: Over 18, hospitality experience, exceptional Customer Service and initiative. Prior CMF experience will be highly regarded.

MC - Master of Ceremonies Team

Are you confident and lively? Do you love to entertain and excite the crowd? Are you prepared to get to know the ins and out of the Festival program? Have you got experience in MC’ing?
Well we are looking for some full of life super stars to get up on stage and MC! In this role you will be required to introduce/back announce bands, provide announcements to audiences including safety announcements, artist signing times and customer service announcements, as required. You will also be required to help keep the stages organised by ensuring unnecessary people are not on or around the immediate stage areas and assist crew with equipment as required.

As this is a highly sought after role and one that requires a certain skill set these positions by referral ONLY.  We will be hand picking MC’s from previous festivals and events to suit the vibe of the stages.

Media Liaison Team

Have you got experience in working with the Media? Are you an excellent communicator, with a tonne of energy and a fabulous smile? Then apply here!!  In this role there are various media tasks including meet and greet, artist interviews, artist signings etc. We need you to provide friendly and efficient support and information to your team as well as media representatives to ensure they have a quality festival experience resulting in the best possible media outcome.

Film & Photography Team

We are mixing up how our volunteer film and photography team works this year. A specialty photographer will be assigned to each festival department to capture the vibe, the highlights, socials, as well as behind the scenes and pull the images together to create a department image and footage portfolio.The supervisor of each area will brief the photographer and assist in setting up and directing you to the perfect time, space and locations. You will also be provided with access to the media booth to process and submit their images and footage daily.  If you are keen to join the film and photography team and include links to your online portfolio, and socials in your application.  There will also be a photobooth team who will capture the big smiles and group antics of Caloundra Music Festival.

Must Haves: Own equipment. Creative eye. Ability to complete a brief.

Stage Management Team

Have you got stage management skills? Are you organised and efficient? Have you got a ‘can do’ attitude? Stage Management Assistants position involves assisting with running an on time stage program. Meeting and greeting artists, assisting the stage manager, reporting any issues or hazards and maintaining a clean and functional work area.It is paramount to always ensure a safe working environment identifying and directing unnecessary people not be on or around the immediate stage areas.

Must Haves: Previous experience, positive attitude, organised.

Traffic, Transport & Parking Team

Are you self-motivated, flexible, willing and capable of working on your own? Are you a great communicator with awesome problem solving skills? Our Traffic, Transport and Parking volunteers are the quiet achievers behind the scenes who ensure the smooth flow of traffic and transport services during the Festival. Their tasks include marshaling at the festival bus stops, manning artist car parks, monitoring transport and parking services, capture transport and parking data, problem solving issues, and assisting patrons as required. As this role is not quite as glamorous as others we will do our best to give you shorter shifts so you have more time to enjoy the event!

Must Haves: Self motivated, ability to work autonomously, strong communication skills

Vollie HQ Team

Are you great with people? Can you work quickly and confidently on a computer? Are you a quick learner and a great communicator? Then come and join the Vollie HQ team! This role involves a variety of tasks including signing on volunteers, issuing Festival accreditation including wristbands, controlling stock of safety equipment and other supplies to volunteers, monitoring and responding to any non-attendance, and assisting with volunteer hospitality if required. Having the ability to communicate effectively, with good computer skills, good customer service skills, be well-organised, friendly, honest and reliable is an essential requirement!

Vollie Lounge Team

Are you a BBQ Master? Do you love cooking for and serving the masses? Well join the friendly bunch in the Vollies Lounge (or more affectionately known as “Bell’s Diner”)! Helping in the Vollie’s lounge makes you an instant crowd favourite, as your primary goal is to feed the hungry volunteers over the Festival weekend! Along with cooking duties you will help keep the Vollie Lounge clean and tidy at all times.

Must Haves: Able to follow instructions, understand how to handle food safely, be friendly and approachable. Food preparation experience requested but not required.
