Joe Mungovan

Kiama, NSW
At the age of nine, a young Joe would never have imagined that begging his parents for a drum kit for Christmas would pave his way into some of the most prestigious stages in Australia. The now folk singer/songwriter, crashed his skateboard at the age of 13, leaving him unable to play his drumkit and in a wheelchair for 4 months. Joe taught himself guitar and unconsciously developed a indie/folk/pop/roots style which blend together to produce his unique style. With attention to articulate lyrics, catchy melodies and rhythmic detail, Joe’s songs express his genuine emotion. His authenticity and passion is conveyed in his intimate live show, and is an experience not worth missing.

In 2012 Joe was a graduate of the Talent Development Project. In 2013 he successfully competed in the Vic On The Park Hotel annual singer songwriter competition, subsequently taking out the title. Joe was a Grand-Finalist of the Telstra Road To Discovery in 2014. Joe was also named 2014 Singer/Songwriter Of The Year by Songsalive Australia.

Joe’s debut E.P June + July was released late in 2013 and has already received rave reviews from listeners.
The 4 track was recorded in his sisters bedroom while she was away overseas and was produced by five times platinum selling producer and mix engineer Tim Carr (Matt Corby, Julia Stone). The EP has received play on both Triple J, and Triple J Unearthed radio stations.
