The Funaddicts are a 2nd wave Ska/Reggae band originally from Brisbane, Australia, who emerged in the mid-80’s and quickly gained a solid reputation for enthusiastic Ska gigs around the East coast of Australia. In 1987, the band scored a #1 position on the 4zzz charts for their independently released single “Mandela/What’s Going On?, the latter winning a Qld Sunnie Award for best original song. After disbanding in the early 90’s, members of the group decided to dust off their boots, uncover some old recordings and most importantly reform and start playing gigs in 2011, throughout most of the East coast.
After releasing a compilation of 80’s tracks entitled ‘The Turnout’, early 2017 saw the release of the full length album ‘What’s The Rush?’ (30 years in the making) which has drawn critical acclaim from fans all across the world, tracks being aired on radio from the UK to Venezuela!
In the last few years, Funaddicts have played gigs with, amongst others, Bad Manners, Neville Staple and The Members (UK), and members have also been touring musicians for UK Ska legends Bad Manners on the last 4 Aus/NZ tours. Although incredibly ancient, the band bring a high energy performance filled with fun danceable Ska/Reggae tunes combining original material, reworked popular tunes in our style and crowd favourites.
