The inspiration to form The Reversals was seeded while Nathanael Hubbard was working as an assistant sound engineer for a number of successful Australian artists including Bernard Fanning and Pete Murray as well as notable producers Anthony Lycenko and Mark Opitz.
During this time, with exposure to great Australian talent, Nathanael was motivated to step out from behind the desk, pick up his instruments and focus on his true passions, songwriting and live performance.
Nathanael (vocals/guitar/keys) quickly engaged his long time music collaborator Scott Maynard (drums), as well as Scott Bignell (bass/trumpet), Matthew Green (keys/backing vocals/violin) and Patrick Gundersen (guitar).
After a successful 2013 with the release of two singles and appearances at numerous music festivals including Caloundra Music Festival, the Gold Coast V8’s, Toowoomba’s Blues & Roots Festival and Australia Day at Robelle Domain, The Reversals have started 2014 in much the same way. The current single from their recently released debut mini-album ‘Long Night’ topped the Triple J Unearthed Rock Charts and the band is already back in the studio working on the next release.
The Reversals are a blend of rock and folk, with their musical storytelling punctuated with soaring harmonies, trumpet lines and the occasional violin or piano accordion break weaved into the mix. A live show with plenty of light and shade and everything in-between, The Reversals are not to be missed.
